View common JPEG, PNG, and WebP EXIF and GPS fields locally, and generate a reviewed metadata-sanitized copy by re-encoding.
How to use EXIF: view and remove
Images and metadata are read only in the current browser memory; nothing will be written or uploaded unless you actively download a cleaned copy.
Choose image
Load a JPEG, PNG, or WebP file no larger than 20 MiB, and the page will read any recognizable EXIF fields.
Check sensitive information
Check the capture time, device, software, author, and GPS fields; location information will be shown separately.
Clear and recheck
After clicking Export Clean Version, the tool will re-encode the image and check EXIF again; after downloading, it is still recommended to reload and verify.
Limitations and Notes
- The viewer covers common TIFF/EXIF and GPS fields, but does not fully parse XMP, IPTC, ICC, vendor-specific MakerNote, or other container metadata.
- The clear feature re-encodes pixels through the canvas, usually removing embedded metadata, but it may change orientation, color profile, animation frames, and image quality; JPEG and WebP may be lossy.
- Single-file limit 20 MiB, 12 megapixels, longest side 8192 pixels; if EXIF is structurally damaged, fields may not display, but as long as the pixels are still decodable you can try generating a cleaned copy; images with unknown formats or damaged pixel data cannot be exported.
FAQ
Does “No EXIF found” always mean there is no private information?
Not necessarily. The file may still contain XMP, IPTC, private blocks not parsed by this tool, or the image pixels themselves may reveal location and identity information.
Will the original image be modified after clearing?
No. The tool only creates a new download copy; the original file remains unchanged.
Why do cleared files have a different size or color?
Exporting will re-decode and re-encode pixels, and compression settings, color profiles, and orientation handling may differ from the original file.
