ZIP compression and secure extraction
Package files locally in the browser, or first check the ZIP directory before choosing to extract, and intercept dangerous paths, conflicts, and abnormal compression ratios.
How to use ZIP to compress and safely decompress
Files and ZIP content are compressed, checked, or extracted only in the current browser and are never uploaded; the operation can be canceled on the page.
Choose operation and files
Add regular files or folders to compress, or select a .zip file no larger than 64 MiB to view the directory; the generated ZIP must also not exceed 64 MiB.
Scope and risk review
Confirm up to 500 files, volume limits, and compression level; before extracting, check paths, duplicate names, conflicts, and compression ratio warnings.
Compress or choose to extract
Generate a download of ZIP, or select all or check entries in the safe directory and download the extracted results item by item.
Limitations and Notes
- Reads only ZIP, does not support RAR, 7z, encrypted ZIP, multi-volume archives, symbolic link restoration, or file permission restoration.
- A single file or a single extracted item can be at most 64 MiB; the total for the original and extracted contents can be at most 160 MiB; approaching the limit will use more memory.
- The tool rejects absolute paths, path traversal, control characters, Windows device names, case conflicts, and abnormal compression ratios; some non-standard archives therefore cannot be processed.
FAQ
Why can’t the entire extracted folder be written directly back to the computer?
A regular web page cannot write arbitrarily to local directories; the tool will download the safe items you selected one by one.
What is an abnormal compression ratio?
Entries that are very small after compression but abnormally large after decompression may exhaust memory; the tool intercepts larger content by per-item and total 250x thresholds.
Are paths preserved when adding folders?
Supports the relative directory structure provided by the browser, but dangerous or incompatible paths will be rejected, and empty folders may not be preserved.
